Q&A med Freya Ridings

My debut record is the time capsule of the last decade of my life, the loves and losses felt like rising from the ashes of heartbreak like a Phoenix

Denne vinter spiller det britiske stortalent Freya Ridings sin første koncert i Danmark, når hun besøger VEGA 10. februar med sit anmelderroste debutalbum under armen. Vi har taget en snak med sangerinden om albummet og hendes kommende koncert.

1. You are playing at VEGA in Copenhagen soon. What can your Danish fans look forward to?

"Firstly we are so excited to be playing in Denmark for the very first time this year! It’s a mix of all the songs from my debut album, I’m at the piano but with my full band around me and we like to surprise and delight every audience as much as we can. Singing together is also a big part of it!"

2. You released your debut album last year. What is the story behind the album?

"My debut record is the time capsule of the last decade of my life, the loves and losses felt like rising from the ashes of heartbreak like a Phoenix. It’s been a hugely emotional experience and getting to sing the songs that healed me with thousands of people over the last year has been the most awe inspiring feeling"

3. Do you have a favourite song from the album?

"It honestly is such a tough question because they all have had such a huge impact on my life, it changes on a show by show basis. Also the energy from audience gives every song a different feeling every night! Castles, Lost Without You and Still Have You have been some of the recent tour highlights because of the amazing singing along from passionate audiences".

4. Where / who do you get your inspiration from when writing songs and making music?

"I always write based off of personal life experience, it’s the only way I’ve ever known how to write songs. The pain and inner fire from heartbreak and rebuilding yourself after is something I’m always drawn towards. Songwriting is one of the very few ways to forge something beautiful from the fire of your life’s pain and turn it into joy".

5. If you should describe your live show in five words, what would they be?

"Sequins & fiery/sad songs"
